Therapy in San Ramon, CA

You run a tight operation.

The calendar is color coded. The household has a system. Work has a process, and so does your schedule, even your weekends, planned a week out so nothing falls through the cracks. People who know you would say you've got it figured out. Most days, you'd probably agree with them.

But somewhere in the middle of running it all well, something got quietly left out. Maybe it's a feeling you can't name because you haven't had time to sit with it. Maybe it's the sense that you're managing your life instead of living it. You're not falling apart. You're just not entirely sure where you went.

That gap, between a life that's well run and a life that feels like yours, is what brings a lot of San Ramon clients to therapy. Not a crisis. Just a quiet suspicion that competence isn't the same thing as being okay.

When Optimization Stops Working

San Ramon rewards people who are good at systems. Careers in tech and operations, a community built around planning ahead, a culture that treats efficiency almost like a virtue. For a lot of people here, that's a real strength, not a performance.

But the same instincts that make you good at your job can make it hard to be a person who simply feels things. If you can optimize a process, the logic goes, you should be able to optimize your way out of anxiety, out of a flat mood, out of a relationship that's gone stale. Except feelings don't respond to better systems. They respond to attention, and attention is usually the first thing to go when everything else is running efficiently.

What looks like control from the outside can be a way of staying one step ahead of something you haven't had a chance to feel yet.

What I See Most Often in San Ramon Clients

Many of the adults I work with from San Ramon are sharp, capable, and used to being the person who handles things. What brings them in is rarely a single event. It's more often an accumulation, the sense that they've been running at full capacity for so long they've lost track of what they actually want underneath the schedule.

It might be anxiety that shows up as overplanning, the need to have every variable accounted for before you can relax. It might be a relationship that's technically fine and quietly empty, two people executing a shared life without much left over for each other. Sometimes it's a transition, a promotion that didn't deliver the relief it was supposed to, a move, a parenting stage that's ending faster than expected.

And sometimes it's simpler than that. It's just exhaustion from being competent at everything, for years, without a place to put any of it down.

What Therapy at Bountiful Health Actually Looks Like

My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and depth-oriented.

Relational means the therapeutic relationship itself is part of the work, not just a container for it. Depth-oriented means I'm not interested in surface fixes or another system to manage. I work with what's underneath: the beliefs that formed early, the coping strategies that once made sense, the parts of yourself that got scheduled out in order to keep everything running. Trauma-informed means I understand that difficult experiences shape the nervous system in ways that aren't always visible, and I bring that awareness to everything we do.

This isn't a process you can optimize your way through. That's often the point.

In-Person Therapy in Orinda

My office is located at 23 Altarinda Road in Orinda, approximately 20 to 25 minutes from most San Ramon neighborhoods via I-680 North to Highway 24 West. Parking is easy and the entrance is private.

San Ramon clients tell me the drive itself becomes part of the routine, a stretch of time with nowhere else to be, before a session and after.

Online Therapy Throughout California

For clients who prefer to meet from home, have variable schedules, or travel for work, I offer secure online therapy to anyone in California.

Online sessions are full therapeutic sessions, the same depth, the same attention, the same relational approach as in-person work. Many San Ramon clients find that meeting early morning, between meetings, or after the kids are down is what actually makes therapy sustainable.

What we work on

I specialize in working with adults and college students navigating:

  • Anxiety & Depression| Including high-functioning anxiety, perfectionism, and the kind of anxiety that's hard to explain because your life looks fine on paper.

  • Self-Esteem & Inner Critic| Persistent self-doubt that survives success, difficulty feeling like enough, the voice that critiques everything you do.

  • Relationship & Boundary Patterns| People-pleasing, difficulty saying no, codependency, patterns in relationships that keep repeating despite your best intentions.

  • Life Transitions| Career changes, relationship shifts, grief, moves, and the disorientation of not knowing who you are in a new chapter.

  • Therapy for Young Adults & College Students| The quarter-life uncertainty that doesn't have a name, the pressure to have it figured out, the loss that comes when the structure of school disappears

  • Midlife Transitions|  Identity shifts, empty nesting, career pivots, and the quiet grief that can come with getting exactly what you planned for.

Is This the Right Fit?

This work tends to be a good fit if: a good fit if

  • You’re high-functioning and capable, and stuck in patterns you can’t seem to move through

  • Your external life looks like success and your internal experience tells a different story

  • You’ve been managing everything on your own for a long time and it’s starting to cost you

  • You want depth, not strategies, work that changes the underlying state, not just the symptoms

  • You’re in a transition and need somewhere to think about what comes next without having to perform

And it's worth saying plainly: you don't have to be in crisis to reach out. Many of the people I work with aren't. They’re simply at the point where managing alone has stopped being a workable strategy.
